Elemental
Vignette: for the world of Yrunn, a story showing the discovery of magic as an elemental force, first in a series of standalone stories which progress, from caveman-like scenarios to the more advanced, to show the fate of those who dared become magi.
- e.g. Jeonota; alone is his rock dwelling in the forest, imbibing of the intoxicant chlauhaoctl. He is of the native forest peoples and presumes to do a 'sweat', as is his pre-hunter-gatherer people's custom before the Hunt - to offer obeisance to the gods in hope of luck the next morning. But hours into the sweat he unexpectedly encounters a demigod (Hu'un ?) in a vision, and this is the beginning of the story of how magic is discovered by man. Why him ? Is it because he is good enough (the old pure of heart cliche) ? Or because he is ordinary enough ?
- The peoples and races of Yrunn will be shaped by the geography. Need to explore this world more. Woodland folk will differ in physical characteristics and customs from the marsh folk, as they will from the (presumably northern) ice-dwellers. So this will trace right back to the Creator/gods. When (t)he(y) created, what state of mind were they in ? What was their intent ? What does the universe in which they created these worlds look like ? And consequently, what are the planet's characteristics ? Answers to these questions will affect the physics of our characters' world (length of seasons, number of suns, type of gravity, plant and animal life, etc.)
